Our May campout is is an adventure to the Pointes West Army Resort where our scouts will take on the Odyssey II confidence course, a 2-3 hour high-ropes challenge that promotes tackling challenges, working in teams and having a great time ourdoors. We will be camping onsite at the Pointes West Army Resort and there will be plenty of downtime for scouts to work on advancement, merit badges and outdoor games. Adults and scouts over 16 will be required to have a valid fishing license to fish at Pointes West.
Additional Details
Due to the instructor-to-climber ratio, we can accommodate 30 ropes course participants. All other participants can fish, hike, work on Scout advancement/merit badge, and enjoy time cooking and camping! If all the rope climbing spots fill up, priority will be given to scouts over adults and, if necessary, scouts with the Climbing Merit Badge or those Scouts who are registered for the Climbing Merit Badge at Summer Camp. The remaining spots will be filled on a "first-to-sign-up basis".
On Sunday, the Troop will drive back to Atlanta, arriving at OGUMC around 1:30pm stopping for lunch on the way.
Adult participation is critical - we will need at least 2-3 other adults who are either certified or highly knowledgeable with climbing and belay. We will also need adults to stay at base camp to monitor non-climbing scout activities.
We will be camping in Camping Area 6 and have access to Pavilion 2 on Saturday.
Parents of Climbers and Adult Climbers, please review the instructions below for the AAC Climbing Waivers. The waiver can be electronically filled out and submitted at the link below. You may also choose to print a copy and fill out manually and bring to Scout Hall. All waivers must be submitted before the campout.
