Our September campout is is an adventure to the Gerald I Lawhorn Scouting Base where our scouts will get to climbing belay assisted climbing towers at the Eagle Mountain Climbing Center and tackle the High and Low COPE Courses. We will be platform tent or tent camping onsite at the Gerald Lawhorn. During the day on Saturday we will be rotating between the climbing tower and the COPE courses. Scouts 12 and unders will be able to climb on the Eagle Mountain Climbing Tower and the Low Ropes Course and Scouts 13 and over will Climb the Eagle Mountain Tower and try to conquer the Sky Trail High COPE Course.
Additional Details
We will need enough adult particiaptns to simultaneously help belay at the climbing Tower and the High Ropes course.
On Sunday, the Troop will drive back to Atlanta, arriving at OGUMC around 1:30pm stopping for lunch on the way.
Adult participation is critical - we will need at least 2-3 other adults who are either certified or highly knowledgeable with climbing and belay. We will also need adults to stay at base camp to monitor non-climbing scout activities.
We will be camping in the Thunder Iroquois and Thunder Tuscarora campsite.
If you haven't already submitted an Activity Consent Waiver for you Scout for the 26-27 Scouting year, you will need to submit one for this adventure. Please download the PDF, print and complete or complete electronically and upload at the link below. NOTE: If you are or have been a parent volunteer, you may be able to complete the waiver on the web at the link below. PLEASE DO NOT DO THAT.
